HALFTIME: Vanderbilt 14, Ole Miss 3 [Sep. 15th, 2007|07:41 pm]
Previous Entry Add to Memories Share Next Entry
Palmer is actually playing and playing fairly well. Offense is getting yards but not points. Horrid special teams play. The Rebels' kick coverage is allowing Vandy to get to near mid-field. See Oxford Rebels' post below.

Defending the spread is a little better in the sense that Vandy is not on a 500-yard pace. Vandy has a 189-160 edge in total offense.

Gotta get it going

We've gotta score on this opening drive. Doesn't look like it's gonna happen, 3rd-11 on opening drive.

Looks like if we can't get some turnovers we are not going to win. I can't see what's going on but it sounds like the offensive line is playing like a jv team. I keep hearing "Pressure on Adams...Adams sacked".

We didn't come to play the first half, looks like the Coach O pep talk in the locker room didn't do much.

Nixon is playing like a Heisman candidate, putting up big numbers, and we haven't been able to get to him. His passing numbers have come mostly from Bennett (big surprise).

And that's what you get with schaffer: 2 sacks and the ballgame is over.

Adams has a shoulder injury, he was having pain when he passed the ball, he got the injury after he took that big hit trying to rush for a first down.

Pathetic

(Link)

We are going the wrong direction. Ole Miss looked as pathetic as that guy ringing the Cowbell in the above picture. Our offense sucks, our defense sucks, our special teams really sucks. Our coaching staff is the worst in the conference. We just had the perennial doormat in the conference, mop the floor with us. I promise everyone this, this is my last year wasting money on Ole Miss season tickets. The product that is put on the field is by far not worth remotely close to what we are paying to get into a game. Early prediction for FLA game - FLA 103 Ole Miss 0. That picture is pathetic up there, but so were we tonight, especially on defense and special teams.

I know I sound bitter and a bandwagon and what not, but at what point do we say, enough is enough? Alabama has done it, and look at them. We are going to have to shell out some money and pay for a staff that is capable of winning, not just recruiting ineligible, inadequate roster fillers. Vanderbilt doesn't even have an athletic department, for crying out loud. We got out-coached, out-played, out-everythinged tonight. Even if Adams was hurt, he was so ineffective it was a good idea to give him the hook. How bad will Florida beat us??? I don't know, but I'll be there to see the funeral procession. I can't wait. You can pick up hot girls at a funeral (joke jpl).

Analysis

(Link)

Well.....
Sigh......
I just don't know what to say....
I guess I'll just start stating the obvious...

Let me start by stating the obvious. Hear are the reasons we lost:

1) Sucky freakin performance by the offensive line.
Before the season started, all we heard was how good this offensive line is going to be. OK, we are all pumped before season starts. Memphis game, o-line sucked. Mizzou game, o-line plays stellar. Vanderbilt game, worse performance than Memphis game.

I just don't understand. What the hell? How can you play one of the best teams in the Big 12 and get 225+ on the ground and then turn around and not get but a cumulative 57 yards on the ground. 57 yards!!! BJ ran for 65 on 21 attempts. That's only 3.1 ypc on a team that is giving up average of 5 ypc. We should have man handled them on the line, but apparently our linemen didn't have their man parts between their legs tonight.

Oh yeah, I didn't mention the sacks. We gave up 6 sacks to one of the worst defensive lines in the conference. Great job coach thompson, great job o-line. I'm losing confidence in both of you again. If you hold true to the pattern, we should rush for 300 yards against Florida. Yeah, right...

2)Brent Schaeffer played. Period. I don't care if he did come in and throw a bomb for a td, he showed in those last possessions that he does not have the ability to run this team.

Brent Schaeffer may not have lost the game, the defense did that, but he should not have set foot on the field.

3) Special teams. They just played horrible. When you give up 30 yards on every kick return, it doesn't take much to win. Vandy had 389 yards of offense, but they should have had 700 yards and they would have if they hadn't have started in Rebel territory 90% of the time.

and finally...

4) The defense. Just like it has been all season long, the defense. I tell you what, we might have been better if thompson had never of came to ole miss. If he was going to bring anything special to this team, we should have seen it by now. We have the worst secondary coverage in all of college football, our linebackers are fat, slow, and inexperienced, and our d-line, which has also been touted with preseason accolades, couldn't catch the qb/rb if they were both dumb, deaf, and blind. I know everyone is young, but I'm tired of excuses. I'm just pissed. A coach that is any good can shape up a young group. Hell, we can't even tackle. If you can't coach a team well enough to learn how to tackle, you shouldn't coach at all.

I just don't know folks...I just don't know...We can kiss a bowl game goodbye. This was a road game that we had to win and we didn't, and all we can hope for now is 5 wins.

Seth was hurt during the game, don't know how serious it is. I hope it's not to bad b/c if schaffer has to run this offense, we won't win another game.

We are a horrible, horrible team, I really think that the poor coaching at ole miss is starting to be reflected in a better light. You can't blame the third losing season on rebuilding. Hopefully, Pete Boone will make himself useful for once and get on the horn tonight and start trying to get someone that has a lot more brain and little less braun.

Your preaching to the choir homey. I agree. I think we should get rid of the atheltic department all together. Hell, roll it under the Vice Chancellor for Student Life - Dr. Wallace can do a hellofalot better than Boone. Wallace could coach football better than O anyway. We aren't going to a bowl game this year, heck, we won't go to a bowl game in the next decade if we keep these bunch of idiots.

I'm glad UK isn't on the schedule. They'd embarrass are butt too. I don't know any SEC that won't embarass us.
